The Class of 1939 included Velma Heard (Terry), Valedictorian, Evelyn Smedley (Smith), and  Mittie Bell Almond (Williams). Heard would later marry Jesse Terry, Sr. Together they founded the largest Black-owned apparel manufacturing company in the United States. Almond graduated from Tennessee State University and had a successful career with the Fulton County Georgia government. Evelyn Smedley later became a teacher at RCTS where she taught English.

Second Row: Pascal Glenn, Howard Stephens, Carrie Hann, Evelyn Smedley, E.S. Peeples (principal), Annie Lou Worrell, Geneva Green (class president), Joe David Finley, and Clinton Smith.
